This blog represents the continuation of a conversation between Jessica Charlesworth and Michael Burton since they worked together on the Tackling Obesities project in 2006 for the Foresight thinktank in London. In lite of the emergence of synthetic biological engineering, personal genomics and genetic engineering this blog documents our area of research and interest in finding areas of concern to create new creative work for debate.
Areas of concern include the impact of Overpopulation, the impact of Obesity and our desire to have control over our individual evolutions and future generations.
We are creative practitioners based in London who use design as a tool to provoke debate and discussion around the social, cultural and political implications of emerging and future technologies.
Our research interests focus around the possible ways we can manufacture our evolution in light of the emergence of synthetic biological engineering, personal genomics and genetic engineering.
We have currently embarked on a design research project to explore how this new evolutionary trajectory for the human species may be extrapolated further from the traditional notion of 'natural' to transhuman.
